When a dog is lost and doesn’t have a collar, there’s little to no way of knowing where they belong. A microchip is a permanent identification device that can help your furry friend make it home.

Why is it important to ensure my dog is microchipped?

Microchipping is important because if your dog is found and taken to a clinic or shelter they can be scanned and reunited with their owners quickly. Having a microchip is also required for travel to many countries if you plan to travel with your dog and it can be beneficial when licencing your pet.

How does a microchip work and is it safe?

A microchip is the size of a grain of rice. It is placed under the skin between the shoulder blades using a needle. It is a tiny data chip containing a number unique to your pet. Once scanned this number is transmitted to the microchip company who can tell you who that pet belongs to. It is a very safe practice.
