Dog Weight Management

According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention obesity it is a recognized disease in pets and 54% of dogs were overweight or obese in 2015.

When is a dog considered to be overweight?

As a general rule a dog is overweight when they are 15% above ideal weight and obese when they are 30% above ideal weight. When you cannot see a waistline, when you cannot see a tummy tuck, when you cannot feel ribs your pet may be overweight.

Are some breeds prone to obesity?

Any dog fed improperly can suffer from obesity.
