Dr. Shelagh Cantley Veterinarian

I proudly graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1987. I have been in small animal practice for over 30 years and worked at both the Dartmouth and Eastern Shore Veterinary Hospitals since 1989. In 2007, I became a practice owner with the Petfocus Veterinary Hospitals and our practices were amalgamated with Vetstrategy in 2015.

I love general practice and interacting with new and long term clients and their furry family members. I also love that every day is interesting, challenging and gives me the opportunity to advocate for animals and help improve their quality of life. It is an honour and a privilege to be entrusted with their care and to have such wonderful clients. I enjoy both the medical and surgical aspects of practice, with a special interest in surgery and dentistry. My favorite part of the clinic is definitely the sweet furry patients we see every day and the comraderie and teamwork of our dedicated and professional staff.

Outside of work, I have a loving animal allergic husband of many years, 4 special children and 2 fun grandchildren. We also have 2 very mischievious Border Terriers, one of which is a hard working St. John Ambulance therapy dog. I hope to one day own an Irish Wolfhound and horse back ride again. I love to spend time with family and friends, walk the dogs, travel, ski, play golf/pickleball  and get to the cottage as much as possible.

Fun fact is that I have retired twice already, but keep coming back! I love this profession ❤️
