Here comes summer!
Summer is my favourite time of year, but the heat brings on some challenges for our pets that we need to be mindful of.
Always ensure your pet has access to lots of fresh water. If possible, stay indoors when it is extremely hot. If your pet must get outside, be sure they have a cool shady place to rest and ensure exercise is kept to a minimum.
NEVER leave your pet alone in a parked vehicle.
Watch for the following symptoms of an overheating pet. If your pet has these symptoms contact your veterinarian:
- Excessive or loud panting
- Difficult breathing
- Extreme thirst
- Excessive drooling
- Mild Weakness
- Seizures
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
