Early disease detection and your senior pet

As our pets age they have an increased risk of developing various age related problems and diseases.

Wellness testing is performed in our senior pets (over 7 years) to decrease the risk that a disease process goes undetected. Thankfully most of the time no abnormalities are found and the results of wellness testing can be used as a baseline for future comparison.   However, if a disease process is detected, early measures can be taken to help

  • Recognize stage of disease
  • Decrease progression
  • Implement a treatment or disease management plan.

Wellness testing involves quickly and painlessly taking a small blood sample that will be analyzed for things such as infection, diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease and thyroid function.
