Dog Behavioural Counselling

Our hospital is committed to helping you with any concerns you may have about your dog’s behaviour. Some of our veterinarians have a special interest in behaviour as well we have a network of excellent, positive reinforcement trainers that we may enlist.

How can dog counsellors help?

We can help educate your dog’s behaviour objectively and may be able to help you help your dog overcome their anxiousness, fearfulness and stress that they may be having by working together.

What happens at a consultation?

We often have you bring your dog with you and observe their personality. We will then discuss your concerns and ask you a series of questions to help us understand what is happening. We also may recommend a consult with a veterinary behaviourist.

Will my pet insurance policy cover the cost of a consultation?

Every insurance policy is different. You should speak with your provider to see if it covers behavioural consults.

What to expect after the consultation?

Follow-up appointments are very important to the success of any behaviour modification program. We may prescribe medications to help with anxiety and/or also enlist positive reinforcement trainers who can work with you.
